Exclamation 3rd brake light reflection in rear window dangerous

I just bought a 2008 Acura TL, the 3rd brake light cover is slightly off
the rear window glass by maybe 1/4" This causes the problem that
every time I step on the brake I get a very bright reflection of red
light on my rear window and the rear interior deck. This is
dangerous because at night this catches my eye and I immediately
look into my mirror out of habit. How do I snug the cover up to the
rear window so there isn't a gap for light? I already tried just pushing
up on the whole cover, it doesn't go up. I have though about putting
some sort of "gasket" in. Suggestions?

thanks,
Michael

Hey Michael,
I put a piece of window tint over the light to help it out... I really don't notice it anymore and you can see the brake light just fine though the tint.

Take care

there should already be a gasket around the stock housing and it should fit and seal against the rear window to stop the exact problem you are having.

if it's not sitting you can first try buying new clips for it and trying to stick it on. If that doesn't work try taking it off, heating it up with a hair drier and then bending it upwards so it'll be a bit more snug. If that fails then you may have to either glue it to the window or buy a new cover.

There is a TSB for this issue. Take it to the dealer and let them replace the cover and gasket. Mine did it free of charge.

EDIT: TSB # 06-024 Highmount Brake Cover Material Comes Loose

I have the same problem! Tried to use double stick tape, but too hard to apply it. Never thought to remove the cover. Is that difficult ? Hard? Cheers
