OP you're the man! Did both my mirrors and now I don't have to be embarrassed about my mirrors clicking and popping out of my Driver setting mode. They glide smooth up down and all around!

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but I've been wanting to do this for a while- it took all of 10 minutes for both sides, and now all is VERY smooth, so many thanks are in order.

I just attempted this. Is there any technique to prying when using a panel remover tool? I tried to pull the glass off but I just couldn't do it. Felt like I was going to snap the glass. I was prying from one of the corners too. If it helps, I'm doing this from the passenger side.

350 mentioned it's a T-10. Glad I found this thread as well.

Mirror replacement

Thank you for your time posting the pictures & text. On behalf of myself & others you've helped with this, thank you very much. Took me about 15 minutes & the Torx size on mine was a T-15.

I'm in the same boat. Not sure what the trick is but I pulled and pulled to what I felt like was a reasonable amount of pressure but it would no budge. Did you ever get it figured out? Anyone else have and/or overcome this issue of getting mirror popped out?

I found it helpful to tilt the glass fully into the car and then you can use leverage to pry it out. So if I remember correctly, I would tilt the drivers mirror all the way to the right. The left side of the mirror will be sticking out significantly. I would take the outer edge of the mirror (left side) and pull it into the car and it would snap off.

For the passengers side, tilt the mirror to the left. Take the outer edge (right side) of the mirror and pull it into the car (to the left). It should snap right off.

Good luck.

Driver side went smooth. Passenger side wouldn't budge, and I ended up breaking the mirror like an idiot! $40+10shipping is the cheapest new replacement I could find online, local Acura dealer wanted $63 but was willing to PM the $40 price without shipping... SCORE! (sort of)

THANK YOU! Took 15 minutes to fix and has been bothering me for years. My mirror has brown spots so I bought the replacement OEM mirror for $40 and got the lithium grease for $3 at Autozone. I appreciate the detailed tutorial. I ended up using a screwdriver to remove the old mirror (moved the mirror all the way to the corner first) but padded it with paper towels so it wouldn't touch the paint.

This is one of the best DIYs. I turned off my reverse mirror function because of this clicking since the day i bought it and i thought the actuators were done for. Now it's smoother than ever and I have reverse mirror again.

Finally got annoyed enough that by my mirrors, that I decided to take them apart to grease. So far I have pulled my passenger side and noticed all of the grease boots are shot. Are any of these parts available for the gearbox?

I broke the actuator on the drivers side upon removal

Looks like I will try the passenger side and if I damage that one then I will just order 2 actuators... (edit, passenger side came off just fine)

The part number on the drivers side does not match what is at Delray.

The part number that I see is: 08A05-04785A
@ Delray the part number I see is: 76210-STX-H03

I will look around to make sure that I get the right part ... but in the meantime, figured that I would edit my original post.

Replace the whole actuator assembly it doesn't come in parts.

That number you see isn't a part number. Delray is right

I got it all greased up and back together and both sides are functional....for now. Hoping this gets me by through the winter and I will look at replacing the entire assembly next spring.....maybe.

not sure what year you guys's cars are, but the 2004 assembly looks nothing like that. there are no retaining clips and the mirror is held in by allen key bolts

nevermind, I wasn't looking in far enough. I just pried the mirror as hard as i could, expecting it to break, and popped it off

Definitely don't pry at the mirror next time. You don't want to put any more flex on the glass or the actuator than you can achieve by twisting a flathead screwdriver (The method described in the service manual, despite what OP says).

I can confirm this will not require lots of force. If the screwdriver is correctly positioned, just a twist of the wrist. I'm attaching the page from the SM in case it helps.

OP: without doubt as close to idiot-proof as possible. Many thanks.
FYI: what once was "browning around the edges" of the side view mirrors is now (August 2018) FAIL Massachusetts Safety inspection/ Not Driveable. Get it DYI in 20 minutes (once pull the trigger on the mirror popping fear). Followed along with this , cleaned and re-greased the little thingy, snapped new mirror (the glass with a plastic housing) back in like the old popped out. Viola!
Again, OP, highest quality work, and a favor if I might: Do you know who does console bulbs replacement with pix ?

Is there a way to just disable the mirrors from moving when the car is put in reverse? I do not want them to move, I want to be able to just manually move them when I want to.

I think, if you put the selector switch (near your left knee) into the middle slot (neither left or right arrow selected), that will prevent the mirror from moving in reverse.

Strange, it should not do that. You may have a problem in the electrical circuit. Most likely at the switch, but could be anywhere in the circuit. Is the problem always in the same mirror?

Did this this past weekend! I actually thought I messed up the actuator when I put my car into reverse for a few seconds, as I'm so used to hearing the "click". Nope, just saw the mirror sliding quietly =D

I also have the same problem he mentioned. Even when the mirror move switch is in the middle the driver side mirror still moves.

It's likely that your switch is stuck internally on L. If you know how to use a multi-meter, I could attach the relevant service manual pages. Or you could swap out the switch.

https://www.autozone.com/electrical-...tch/866552_0_0

Keep in mind, the L circuit could also be closed elsewhere but usually this will happen at the switch.

So most likely replacing the actual switch should fix that problem?

My best guess is that the switch is the issue (70% or better probability). But much of my troubleshooting experience comes from sailboats where corrosion is a big issue in switches.

That said, if you'd rather not take the chance, borrow a multi-meter from a friend and I can walk you through the service manual steps to check your existing switch. If your existing switch works according to specs, then the problem could be anywhere else in the circuit and likely very hard to find for someone without experience and tools.

When the [L off R] switch is on [off], you said putting the car in reverse will tilt the driver mirror. When the [L off R] switch is on [off], does moving the circle labeled [mirror] up, down, left, or right move the driver mirror?

When the [L off R] switch is on [R], does putting the car in reverse tilt the passenger mirror?

In 2020, my 2005 Acura TL just started to stutter when the mirror tried to move. I tried the lube trick and it worked great! Be careful - I accidentally broke one of the white mounting clips used to mount the mirror mount to the car - not ideal but it all still works fine.

This fix did not work for me. DPMS was malfunctioning too. Bluedriver code scan revealed whole list of error codes:

6 Multiplex Integrated Control Unit Codes
B1007 Lost Communication With Combination Switch Module (HLSW frame)
B1010 Lost Communication With Power Window Module (PANIC frame)
B1006 Lost Communication With Power Window Module (DRLOCKSW frame)
B1008 Lost Communication With Meter Module (AT frame)
B1011 Lost Communication With Meter Module (VSP/NE frame)
B1005 Lost Communication With Relay Module (RM frame)
4 Memory Seat Control Module Codes
B1831 Right mirror vertical sensor open.
B1830 Right mirror horizontal sensor open.
B1833 Left mirror vertical sensor open.
B1832 Left mirror horizontal sensor open.

Clearing them did not help. I was almost ready to buy and replace MICU. But I've decided to replace side mirrors actuators first.
Done today. Everything works like it should, no errors. Actuator part number is 76210-STX-H03, left and right are the same. Hope it helps somebody with same issues.

Did this yesterday. Had a tough time getting the mirror off with a plastic pry tool. Ended up cracking the glass on my driver side. I took that opportunity to order two new mirror replacements since I had browning on both mirrors

Stumbled across this video and that helped me a bunch. Highly recommend watching that first!!
