2nd gear grinding after syncromesh

So my car hit 60k and I noticed every blue moon it would grind 2nd gear on a hard 1-2 shift. I replaced it with GM Syncromesh at around 65k since I figure'd it had never been replaced before. After I put it in I noticed the part number on the bottle wasn't exactly the same one as the one listed in the Acurazine DIY. It was a few numbers off, but the bottle read GM Syncromesh Transmission Gear Oil. I checked it out and it didn't seem like it was anything special so I didn't worry. After a thousand miles I have noticed the car will grind into 2nd if I bring 1st to redline and shift. I have tried shifting hard, and just pulling back on the gear lever allowing it to fall into 2nd with ease and it will give a small grind and engage into gear. If I rev to saw 5k and shift hard into 2nd it wont do it at all. It doesn't grind every time at redline but I'd say 2/5. I had a similar issue in my RSX, the 2nd gear snap ring got worn out which lead to the dog teeth on my 2nd gear gearset getting destroyed. Do you guys think I have the same issue here? Could the fluid have caused it since it wasn't the exact number as the diy listed?! And will it eventually eat itself if I drive it under normal conditons? I don't always thrash on my car, and as time goes on I drive it less hard. I hope I don't lose second, I don't want take apart another trans .

Sorry to hear this. You HAVE to get the FRICTION MODIFIED fluid. If not, then it's not worth it to change the fluid.

I'd try that first.

But, if by chance you still experience grinding, then I'd take it to the stealership to see if you can get them to perform the TSB on it.

nope, as long as it's friction modified the 6MT transmissions will be fine. As far as automatic transmissions, NEVER use this fluid!

No the fluid didn't cause this.. you did by throwing hard fast 1-2 shifts. Whenever you shift fast, the synchronizers have much more work to do in matching the input shaft and lay shaft speeds. This will wear the synchronizers more quickly, especially in light of the fact that our transmissions are NOT true close ratio boxes (the gear ratio spread between first and second is the widest of all of the gears).

Try to find the real GMSFM fluid, as depicted in the photo above, and see if that doesn't alleviate your problems.

Heres the funny part, it said Friction Modified on it, it looked Identical it just didn't have the same part number....I also recall reading the Semi-Synthetic part and wondering if I had purchased the wrong one.
