2008 TL-S Vibrating only when gasing.. whats wrong????

First off... i just got my comptech sport springs put on stock struts and this only started to happen right after.....

My car vibrates when I gas it and when i let go, it stops vibrating... Can someone help me out on what this problem could be?

Thanks in advanced ACURAZINE!!

Only when you gas it? Anytime you gas it? Going up the hill when the car is pushed? Any resonance sound? Where is the vibration felt? Where do you think it's coming from...

It could be a huge number of things. Right now to me this sounds like a huge safety concern... The car must be inspected ASAP.

Does it throw your steering wheel? or does it feel like a bad alignment? And speaking of an alignment.. did you you get that done???

And I must ask you this.. why in the world would you only lower the front of your car?!?! Do you not like balance? Do you not like traction?

need to work on your terminology... Gas it? Meaning, accelerate? Constant speed?

Seems like your alignment is off

The rears sit pretty low right now due to my really big sub and box and if i were to drop the rear, i would rub everywhere i go even if it is springs... i will have a couple pics up of what the car looks like now... I went from stock 17s to aftermarket 19inch wheels... I have not got an alignment.. My alignment is not off or anything... This vibration only happens when i accelerate.

OK... Your alignment is 10000000% off...

And dropping your car has really little to do with actually lowering it... The springs are designed to work together as a team.. balancing each other out, providing support and stiffness for ideal handling. You'd be better off with coil overs... And now you are killing your struts. And you definitely need an alignment and most likely a camber kit.

Well you didnt mention you got new wheels in the process, it could be that your wheels are outta balance as well.

I would first go with an alignment

Ive had the wheels for about a month before i decided to drop it... so the wheels i dont think could be the problem... I will go do an alighment now and hopefully it will stop the vibrating..

If alignment don't help rebalance the tires...AGAIN. Need hubcentric rings? Or maybe your since you stated upon accelaration, is there a low humming noise, could be your driveshaft....do a search.

An out of spec alignment will NEVER cause a car to shake.

Vibrations on load (acceleration) are usually related to the drive train. In this case, the axles.

OP, I hope you get that covered. The dealer may not cover it since the car has been lowered.

Good luck!

They won't cover because it was lowered??? There's no way the drop could mess up the driveshafts.. that's ridiculous!!.. lol.. I think a thread like this pops up every other month.

on a serious note.. OP.. get the CV joints / driveshafts looked at and taken care of and check the hub bearings as well. Make sure you get that sucker aligned after..

Possible axle/CV joint damage when they changed the springs? Maybe they aren't seated correctly and the axle isn't true.

I'm surprised the dealer didn't void the warranty on your driveshafts. Lowering definitely puts more stress on them. Either way, happy to hear they replaced it without qualms.
