2008 tl peace of s h * t

so yesterday im driving to the rims shop to get a new tire. soon as i pull up they ask when did i change my oil i said about a month ago with acura so the guy takes my car around the block to test the new tire and he comes back and says you motor is no good and i said what you mean he sad hear that he open the hood and i herd a loud knocking noise wich i been hearing ever since i got the car only not as loud and i took it to acura and they said they found nothen. the guy tells me my car wont last another 1000 miles i didnt belive him so im driving home my car starts shaking and turns of i turn it back on and it starts stalling and shuts off.. so i let it cool down started driving it starting knocking really hard that people were turning there heads and the car shut off again so i pulled over and called acura for help..... now fellas what you think this can be and what should i do about it?

Sounds like cylinder misfire.

Question 1: Why do you let your tire guy look into your engine? He might of pulled off a vacuum hose...check for that.

Question 2: Is the engine shaking violently? and do you hear loud pinging?

Question 3: Any warning lights go on?

Question 4: Stupid question, but did you actually have enough oil in the car? was there a leak?

Which dealership you went in NYC? If you say Brooklyn, I wouldn't be surprised.

My advice to you would be to use that Acura Roadside Assistance card they gave you. Have your car towed to the nearest Acura dealership (the one you bought/leased) and DEMAND A NEW DAMN CAR. Also mention the lemon law and demand a Type-S for your inconviences.
Let us know what goes down.

Forgot to mention this, the leading cause of the described disease is a fuel controller malfunction or PCM/ECU. I had that in my 2G. It was not fun.

^^ yes also demand one million dollars in pain and suffering, Jessica Alba to sleep with you, and Donald Trump to hire you.

teknoking why would the tire guy pull of the hose then say something wrong with the motor?

anyways, how many miles are on your car? and if you already reported it there should be no problem with you getting a new car or getting it fixed

take that shit back.. Acura has to fix it, or give you a new car.. Only two solutions.. Dont worry.. The law is on your side.

Man, I hope you're on the phone with the dealership right now speaking to a service manager. My advice to you would be to sound very upset but never get out of character or use profanity.

Ok, so let me get this straight. The car has been making a knocking noise since you purchased it, yet you continued to drive it. If there is something wrong with the car, some sort of defect, then Acura will take care of it. Honestly though, given your attitude about it bein a "piece of shit", and the fact that you apparently neglected it for some time now, they will more than likely chalk it up to "driver abuse" and tell you to piss off.

No, the OP did mention that he bought the car back to the dealer to check on the problem. As per his long sentence, they did not find anything wrong.

Truthfully, I do not blame him for being pissed off since this is a new car.

He has taken the car in a couple of times now, so how could it be driver abuse? I'd just get a new car and be done with it. No telling how well they will rebuild the engine in your present car. Good luck.

If you have it in writing that you brought the car to the dealership to investigate the ticking noise and they said nothings wrong. Thats pretty much saying that you were concerned about the car, thought something might not be right and tried to get it fixed.

Definitely ask for a new car.

Regardless of what they said, there is no reason that the CEL should come on that often in a brand new car. Dealer Service Departments are like doctors, If you aren't satisfied with the diagnosis from one, go elsewhere and get a second opinion.

I'm glad they are going to fix it for you, but honestly, why did you put up with it for this long?

would the dealer really give you a new car? i highly doubt it. They will try their best to fix it before giving you a brand new car, no what the circumstances are. Doesnt the Lemon Law come in effect if the car has seen an XXx amount of days within a certain time period in the shop?

im pretty sure they can hook you up with other stuff such as free service or discounts for the inconvenience....but a new car? i highly doubt it.

But by all means, it doesnt hurt to try.

I seriously doubt the dealership is going to give you a new car. Because once you drive the car out of their lot, it depreciate its value, also it has been titled to an owner already. The dealership will do their best to fix your problem, but for them to shed out another brand new vehicle will probably be their last resort. Not saying it wouldn't happen since your dad will get an attorney involved. I wish you the best and I do wish you get a new car. Because a relatively new TL shouldn't be getting a new motor.

Maybe the Op didn't know that the sound was not a good noise. But if he had it at the Acura Service department he purchased it from and they looked into it and stated that it was normal and expected...I honestly wouldn't go to another dealership(If i didn't know that paragon acura was infamous for a bad service dept)

All that I have to say is try your hardest to get a new car since your car has less than 6500 miles on it. Good luck with everything.

Hell why not ask for a new RL then. Or how about a new AMG from MB since we all feel so entitled. Honestly I doubt they have to do anything more than fix the problem.

And to the person who said if it were the piston to ask for a new car and if the transmission to get it fixed has it backwards. I would much rather have my engine rebuilt than the transmission. So many more moving parts in a transmission and so many more opportunities for something to go wrong.

But honestly if they do something like replace the car its out of goodwill not because they had to.
