2008 TL broke Timing Belt - Replaced and still runs
I understand the 2008 Acura TL 3.2L VTEC is an interference engine. I had replaced the timing belt at 165,000 miles with an aftermarket belt. It broke at 197,000 miles. I will not use an aftermarket belt again. I replaced the timing belt and the car runs fine. I was a little surprised. I wonder what percentage of the time a broken timing belt on these engines results in damage?
I was trying to figure out the brand but couldn't track it down. I bought it as part of a timing belt set off of PartsGeek.com. The belt didn't have any markings. Notice all the perpendicular cracks.
Happened same to me at 03 tl and same no problem with engine. How much I did read most engines do not get damaged from broken timing belt even if is interference engine. https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-tl-1...-999415/page2/
