When is the timing belt due?
Hello
I have been searching on the forums for info as to when exactly the Timing Belt / WaterPump is due on the 2008 TL-S Automatic. Is it 100K, 105K or 120K miles?
Also aside from the Timing Belt, Water pump and crank shaft seals, what else needs to be replaced? I want to make sure I get this done on time. My TL-S reached 100K Last week
Thanks in Advance

That is not what the TL owner's manual states-- there is no mileage-based maintenance on the 3G TL.
The timing belt service is due when service "4" comes up on the MID. At that point, many owners also change out the water pump, coolant(which is otherwise service "5"), tensioners, pulley, serpentine belt and maybe spark plugs if not previously done.
If the brake fluid and auto trans fluid weren't changed in the past 36 months, might as well do those too.

I did mine at 93k just to get it out of the way while I had the money
I had them do a whole system coolant flush, timing belt water pump the 3 major pulleys and tensioner, serpentine belt, power steering fluid flush and change out, a tranny fluid 1x3, valve adjustment, cabin filter, air filter , oil change, Spark plugs, thermostat, upper and lower radiator hoses, valve cover gaskets, crank shaft gasket, cam seal gaskets, both intake manifold gaskets and I think that is it.
Gates thermostats - 33914 170* one
Gates water pump timing belt kit - tckwp329
Spark plugs 6 - izfr6k11
3 gallons type 2 honda coolant plus 1 bottle of royal purple ice coolant additive
3 bottle amsoil synthetic power steering fluid
Serpentine belt - 38920-RCA-a03
Crank shaft seal 91212-p8a-a01
2 cam seals - 91213-r70-a02
Cabin air filter and air filter - 17220-rda-a10. 80292-sda-a01
Intake manifold gasket first 1 - 17105-rcj-a01
Intakem manifold gasket second 1 - 17146-r70-a01
2 valve cover gaskets 12341-RCA-a01
2 bottles redline type f
1 bottle redline d4
I can't remember the lower and upper radiator hose #'s or the last pulley, but that is basically what I had them do

Idler and tensioner are in the gates kit.
I bought all those parts myself. Cost was about 265-290$ if I remember right. Labor was 579. So I figured for about 800 total not a bad deal for all that.

Plus I did all that even though I have a 42k 3 year extended warranty I bought when I picked the car up in march. Warranty was only 1400.
As everyone above stated, it's normally due at 105K. As with Sbarbee54, I have a pretty extensive list of items that will be replaced:
Aisin Timing Belt Kit (TKH-002)
Having all the work done this week-end.

- Timing Belt Idler
- Water Pump w/ Gasket
Drivebelt (AC/ALT) (38920-RCA-A03)
Thermostat (19301-P8E-A10)
Lower Radiator Hose (19502-RDB-A00)
Upper Radiator Hose (19501-RDA-A10)
Radiator Hose Clips 4 (19511-PH7-003)

OMG!!! I just left the Acura Stealership in Fremont, CA. Guy states All that is due at 100K, and that at 105K its just a Valve Adjustment and Spark Plugs.
The quote I got for just Timing Belt, Water Pump, Drive Belt, Pulleys is $1200 (after a $150 discount). Add another $200 for the Pulleys and $250 for a Hydraulic Tensionner making it $1650.00 for the job.
Then he wants me to return at 105K for Valve Adjustment and Spark Plugs for $799.00 package deal!!! I feel this guy is giving me the shaft... A lot of the maintenance I can do myself such as the spark plugs and stuff. I just mainly want the Timing belt and related items done. I've personally done two timing belts in my life (Accord and Civic) and would be willing to do it again but I worry about the risk of doing it wrong since we only have two cars (Wifes and mine) No back up ride to head to work. Further more, I asked for a quote to adjust the valves on the 06 TSX, $265.. Why is there such a huge price difference between the two...

Where do you live? Because if you get all the parts yourself and find a good place the specializes in acura or honda repairs you can save yourself serious $$. That is what i did and the place down the street from my house happened to be a Honda Acuara only place. With 3 of 7 mechanics all ex acura or honda techs. Labor was cheaper and buying all the parts myself they did not car about.
My shop is outside of Sacramento, so a reach for you. But there should be plenty down by you. Go hit up the regional CA section or the sub section of that in NOR CAL and drop a post for recommendations.

American Honda recommends a 105K timing belt service for many of its V6 vehicles on a mileage/time service schedule-- just not for the 3G TL. There's nothing wrong with shortening service intervals, but OP asked, "when is the service due?" The answer is: when the service "4" message arises on the MID.
