Hi guys im a new tL owner and I purchased a 2006 6MT with about 75K miles. Everything appears to be working great on the vehicle except for when I attempt to engage in 3rd gear it seems to pop out of place and lay back in neutral? I have to firmly set it in 3rd gear. All other gears engage fine?
Could this be just me being lazy when shifting since its the farthest gear ? Or possible something more serious?

This is perhaps the single most discussed issue for the 3G 6MT cars in the problems and fixes area. Search this area and you will find many references.

You can also search Google the following ways. Include everything in the quotes in what you enter into Google .

My experience was to use the GM Synchromesh Friction Modified manual transmission fluid (MTF). For me it was a total solution. Others decided to have (or in in some cases argued with there dealer to have) a TSB done on their car. TSB seemed extreme to me since the GM MTF did the trick.

Mods please lock this before it turns into the usual tired debate.

It is a total solution. Warranty or not, don't take your car into the shop before trying this for notchy shifting!
