2006 6MT Sticky Shifter
I'm noticed lately that my shift action is stiff. When the car is cold it takes more effort than normal to move from gear to gear. With the sifter in neutral, when I wiggle it left to right it will stay over between 5th and 6th (it should self-center to between 3rd and 4th). This seems to correct as the car gets good and warm or after it's been driven a bit and then sits for a few minutes. I can't see how this is clutch (it actually goes into gear fine), it's not the "3rd gear" issue (I've had that and would recognize it). It just stiff/balky/difficult ... for a while. What's up? Something with the shift cables? Internal tranny issues? I haven't changed the fluid a while but closely follow the recommended maintenance schedule so it hasn't been called for either. Have not checked the fluid level (yet).
Thoughts?
Thanks!

Cables were binding where they connect to the transmission. I'd changed the rubber bushings there for steel MANY years ago. They spent 10+ years marinating in Wisconson's cold and salt. I was able to get the cables off of the transmission arms, greased things up with water-resistant grease and all seems fabulous now!
