2005 TL Transmission?

Hi. I recently purchased a automatic 2005 Acura TL with 75,000 miles on it. There was a delay when I put the engine in drive and reverse. I had initially thought that it was the engine mounts.

After changing the engine mounts, the problem was not fixed. The shifting into drive was much better but there was still a slight delay. The worst is when I put the car in reverse. There is about a 4 second delay when putting the car in reverse and it feels like the engine is dropping. I took it to a mechanic and they are telling me it is the transmission.

With that being said, I do not feel any issues when actually driving the car, only when putting the car in drive and reverse.

Can someone give me some advice on this?
Is it the transmission based on the symptoms?

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

It's normal behavior for these transmissions to do that. I'd drain and fill the transmission a few times to get new fluid if it hasn't been done already at that mileage.

actually it's not "normal" for there to be a delay when engaging the trans. HOWEVER with these units. it seems to be common.

drain and fill with the newest Honda atf. do it every other oil change.
