2005 TL makes strange noise...
Hello all,
Last weekend we purchased a new '05 TL, Abyss Blue, no NAV and 5AT. After 200 miles the car has developed a grinding/chattering sound from the wheel/axle. It almost sounds like something is rubbing the axle. The noise is heard in foward or reverse at less than 10 mph. It occurs with or without the brakes being applied.
Speaking of brakes, the parking brake has to be YANKED hard to get it to hold the car. If I pull it up naturally and put the car in forward or reverse, she'll move.
I checked the car over carefully before I bought it and it didn't make this noise when we took delivery of it. I'm also not an idiot, check my sign below and see my toy.
We scheduled an appointment with the dealer, but it means I'll be inconvenienced. We had such great luck with the '03 RSX, I didn't hesistate when thinking of buying another Acura. Did I make a mistake?

I don't think it is...
Repecat,
I don't believe it's the ABS self test since it does it all the time below 10 mph. It doesn't go away and come back...it's always there below 10 mph. I don't hear it after 10 mph, but it could still be there, just disguised by road noise and such.
It also wasn't there when we took it from the dealer. I would have noticed it and raised a flag during the road test.
Massr1,
Normal? Really? I'll see if I can get used to it. I just don't want the transaxle holding the 3,500 lbs, know what I mean?
Thanks for your replies,

The verdict...
The dealer here in Joisey took the car in and then asked me to reproduce the noise. I did and the two service advisors heard it and agreed it wasn't normal.
A half hour later they tell me the noise was from rocks (about 30 of them) that were stuck in the tire threads. They washed the car and removed the rocks.
I got in the car and guess what? The noise is still there!
So they got back in the car and tell me they can no longer reproduce the sound and that it's resolved.
I've had rocks stuck in my tires before and they always make noise as the speed increases, not just below 10 mph. This is something else and I'm going to find out what it is.
