2004 TL Transmission Problems

My 2004 TL has 90,000 miles on it and the transmission is beginning to concern me. It has a high-pitched whine when I accelerate and it is downshifting hard into 2nd gear. I have been reading a lot about the problems with Acura transmissions and then I came across a notice on Motortrend of a recall (Recall ID # 48616 - POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION) stating: CERTAIN OPERATING CONDITIONS CAN RESULT IN HEAT BUILD-UP BETWEEN THE COUNTERSHAFT AND SECONDARY SHAFT SECOND GEARS IN THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION, EVENTUALLY LEADING TO GEAR TOOTH CHIPPING OR GEAR BREAKAGE.
Consequences:
GEAR FAILURE COULD RESULT IN TRANSMISSION LOCKUP, WHICH COULD RESULT IN A CRASH.
Has anyone heard about the recall and how Honda/Acura is dealing with this?

Wow, this is concerning. I have 110 K on mine. I don't have those symptoms described but I do get the "shuddering" between 30-40 mph when slowly going uphill.

My trans has some issues, I have gottin used to it well at least trying to get used to it and hoping it lasts awhile longer but I do think Acura needs to address this situation.

Your power train warranty on an 06 is for 70K plus a little extra from the class action lawsuit. I had a complete tranny replaced under warranty at 69K miles. and another one a few thousand miles later. ITS UNDER WARRANTY
