2004 TL clutch problem

I was looking and couldn't find anything specific on this but I out in a stage 3 clutch and a new flywheel to work with the clutch and it works great but lately whenever I take off in first or second and shift to the next gear my clutch won't catch and I have to let go of the pedal and then it catches but if I'm driving around and speed up its fine as long as I'm not pushing it hard and I only had the clutch for like 20,000 miles. And excuse my graartmmar I'm using a smart phone

is the clutch self adjusting like the original factory?

From what Im taking it only grabs at the very top of the clutch pedal movement?

He mentions Stage3 so I assume he's got a CM setup that isn't a SAC.

Your description is not very clear. You have to let go to make it catch? Do you mean if you let it out in 1st or 2nd that it slips and if you push it in and out again it grabs?

If that is the case then it sounds like your throwout bearing is hanging or something.

The only thing I heard about CM setups were that the master cylinder was going bad because they couldn't adjust the clutch where there wasn't constant pressure in the system. But that would cause engagement issues, not slippage.

I would start with making sure the throwout bearing/fork is compressing and retracting correctly in the garage and check the adjustment.

When I put the petal to the metal in 1st, 2nd or 3rd and i push the clutch in and shift then let it out it doesnt grab all it does is rev the rpm's and i have to let the pedal out for it to grab. Also i just found out that because the stage 3 clutch is meant for cars with more power such as engine mods and turbos that basically i dont have enough power for a stage 3 clutch.

i'm not a mechanic but since it's not self adjusting is there some manual adjustment that needs to be performed? you put 20k on it, did you drive hard in those miles?

Did your 'mechanic' tell you this too? That is bullshit. Granted you wasted your money on a stage3 if you aren't producing the numbers that would normally over drive the stock clutch, but too little power isn't going to cause it to slip.

If you still have the 'check valve' in the slave cylinder, it will act like you are riding the clutch. Maybe that is what you are experiencing.
