2004 TL automatic transmission?

I have an 04 TL with 107000 miles on it and have not done anything to the transmission, it has original filter, fluid, etc. It is 95% highway driving and still shifts fine and fluid is still red.

Now what should I do? leave it alone, start doing 3x3 changes, change filters???

Do a 1x3 change first and see how things go.
The ATF change is the Maintenance Minder "3" service in the MID.

Perform the timing belt, water pump, etc. per the "4" service already?

Had the timing belt changed, nothing with the water pump. What do they recommend to do with the water pump?

Who did your timing belt? Rip off if they didn't do the pulleys, tensioners, water pump/gasket, and the serpentine belt at the same time. Check your invoice....

If the fluid is still red, the fluid has been changed at some time as it is only a dye, and the fluid will change color over time, and certainly will not retain the "red" color after 6 year/100,000 miles.
If not done a 3 x 3 change is fine and you'll not have any problems, it's time.

Wasn't there a recall on that tranny? If so, fluid may have been changed by dealer at some point.

I just changed my tranny fluid yesterday @75900mi, and I feel a huge difference. Not sure if it was done before my ownership(Jan'10).

What is 3X3 changes and 1X3 change?? I read that 3 tranny fluid changes is equal to one full tranny fluid flush, plz correct me if I'm wrong. How often should tranny fluid be changed? Thanks in advance for the advice.
Peace.

I believe it means 3 drains and 3 refills. I just did mine at 87,000, I drained it and put in 3 qts, drove it 5 minutes going thru each gear, then drained it. Then repeat it 2 more times. I put in 9 qts total (3 fills) and then drained it a 4th time and put in 3 qts (12 qts total) to make sure all (or most) of the fluid is out.
The book says to change it every 30,000 after the first 60,000 I think.

hey guys, I'm looking at getting a TL and my friend said his friend had a auto TL tranny problem with his 06 TL.

I'm looking at getting an 04-6 TL...is this tranny problem mainly with the 04?
