Brought my car in to the dealer Friday..they say the transmission needs replacing...!!!
When i shift from Park to drive it feels like a double shift.
The Tech said it is not normal..

2004 Tl 107 000 kilometers ..i'm in Canada

try and get the transmission goodwilled. call acura client services. can you describe the double shift from park to drive in detail. I sorta experience that in that my car will have a slight thump and a 2 second delay before engaging from reverse to drive.

 

Thanks for quick response..when i shift from park to drive ..or reverse to drive is starts to engage normally then after maybe 2 seconds gives another jerk to fully engage..it feels like a double shift (clunk) to me..instead of just one clunk to get into gear..what normal cars do..

Sounds like the same symptoms as your transmission...did you try to resolve the problem ?

not yet. i'll need to take it into acura one of these days. i still have the extended warranty till 105k so i'm hoping it's covered if there is indeed a transmission issue.

 

just took it into the dealership today. they said the transmission mounts were causing the thump.

 

Ahhh not so bad for you...did they replace the mounts?

Maybe it could be that also on my car...but the dealer i went to wants to replace the whole transmission for like 5000.00 ...I called Acura Canada and are only offering a 700.00 rebate..on a transmission that should not be broken in the first place...at 107 000 km not miles ,i'm in Canada

Let me know if your problem got resolved..
I will go get a second oppinion somwhere else..

will update you. i couldn't make it in time tonight to pick up the vehicle when it was ready. i'll pick it up tomorrow morning and post back some time then.

 

picked it up and the car feels very different. frankly, it feels like a new car haha and the car doesnt have a weird feeling when accelerating during stop and go in the city.
