Very common. Helicoil is the cheapest option obviously else go find a used head at a junkyard and replace

Yep, all too common. Who last replaced your plugs?
Helicoil / time sert has worked fine. Someone here had #2 helicoiled/time serted with the head still on the car. I don't know how they managed to do it with the head still on the car, but they did.
Do a search, plenty of threads on this issue. Also, there's a chance that the threads in the head are still good. Have you tried threading a new plug into the hole?

I havent really dug into yet, I couldnt get new plug in and took a look at the threads on old plug, i don't believe its to bad, it could be much worse, i think i may be able to chase it with a tap and if that wont work ill go in with a helicoil, its the first thread is just a little bugged up

happens to me too, I guess I waited too long to change the spark plug. Exactly how you described it, spark plug broke and popped out causing the coil to melt. All I did was rethread it with a helicoil and obviously changed the spark plugs and the one ignition coil that melted. happened about a year ago and still runs fine just make sure you use red RVT gasket maker on the the helicoil. put the coil on the spark plug and then the the rvt on the coil and then screw it all the way into your freshly retreaded head and wait about 30 hours so you know its dry. ALSO after you rethread your head and before you put the coil and new plug in, turn the engine one for a second with no spark plug ( yes no plug where it failed so 5 in total) just so you blow out those metal shavings out of the spark plug tube.
