2004 Acura TL Base - Transmission stopped working/started working again
So my base TL with 5at transmission completely stopped working and started reving like in neutral while on cruise going 75mph back home. Had to get it towed & stayed parked for a couple months. One day I decide to replace my battery and change engine oil and filter i used Royal Purple 5w20 & k&n oil filter. Suddenly my car starts working and driving again getting better every day and hasn't had any problems slipping again. Has this happened to anyone else? Car has 291,550 miles lol.
I would be hesitant to drive that anywhere after it was slipping on you. That is a sure sign that the transmission will need to be replaced. When the car is cold it will drive fine but when it warms up the trans should act up again. Plan to spend $2500 for a new trans and get to driving again!

I've put over 10,000+ miles & counting since. I think I'll be okay, thanks though. She's my daily driver for now & I plan to get to 300,000. Only thing is its ticking a little from the rear on top by the intake manifold. The timing has been replaced recently and the serpentine belt tensioner but it still squeaks/chirps/ticks maybe knocks? It goes away under load or above 2500 rpm.
Yeah I plan too! I think I'm going to leave the transmission oil in as I've head of transmissions not working after putting new fluid sending the tranny into shock, the car probably got used to whatever condition its in it was changed at about 200,000 miles.
