We recommend proper punctuation.

Pretty sure if you search the forums, this has been answered many times which I think is OEM is generally the preferred. There are some that disagree, and some that will agree with that statement....as usual.

sounds like whoever sold you the car knew the clutch was going out so they decided to make it someone else's problem

Any reason why you wouldn't just go with an OEM replacement?

I'm still on my original but I have a buddy who has changed his twice, first time with an aftermarket that he hated and again with the OEM part, I'd go OEM. Sorry that happened on your new ride!

OEM. Also, clutches SHOULD last well beyond 79,000 miles. My 04' has 82,000 miles on it and I would expect to get another 60,000 miles out of the clutch (though I won't have it that long).

you cant put a blanket statement on a wear and tear item.

your statement should be worded as:

if properly driven, the clutch can last the lifetime of the car and then some.
however, if abused,* the clutch can die an early death.

*abused doesnt always mean racing. if you dont know how to operate the clutch correctly, you're abusing the shit out of it.

It wasn't a blanket statement. Read it again....

^^^This. I'm at 154K on the original clutch. I expect to get well over 200K on it.

If Exedy makes a stage 1 you can get away with putting in a stage 1, they're not bad at all being that they're almost close to stock.

OTHERWISE, I'd definitely go with an oem clutch
