'08 Type S 6MT Motor/Tranny mount??

I have a 2008 TL Type S 6MT with 112K on the clock and for the past week I have noticed that when I'm changing gears the car has a slight thump or jump forward after switching gears and when I am at cruising speeds and let off the gas pedal I feel a small thump. Im thinking its a mount but not sure which to look at first to pin point it. Any help would be appreciated.

You can check the side mount first. See if it has any tears in it. If so, then most likely the front or rear are bad as well..Usually if you go in reverse and hear a clunk sound, that is the rear mount gone bad...

When I go in reverse or into first gear there's no clunk only when I'm in drive shifting gears. It feels like the engine jumps forward when I shift gears. It's slight but noticeable.

Side mount "shouldn't" make any noise. If you are getting a noise, I would be looking at the front and back mounts. If those are bad, the side mount probably is too. I know my side mount was shot, but the front and back were fine per the dealer. I didn't have any noises from the bad side mount, just noticed I could feel the engine flop around a bit more than it should be when shifting and/or leaving it in gear and letting off the gas.

So the main question is....is there an actual noise or are you feeling the "thump" when the engine moves? The side mount is very easy to inspect as well as replace.

$20 says your rear mount and etd are dead.

Upgrade that ETD!

Here was the culprit transmission mount and I must say the problem is come rely gone and feels good shipping into gears and not feeling the engine jump forward again.

Not sure if it's the picture but it looks like they've switched to a more solid mount? That's pretty cool.

I agree the new mounts rubber was thicker compared to the old mount and was a lot stronger. The old mount it could move the metal center very easily with my fingers as with the new mount it wouldn't budge when used my fingers to move it.

Doesn't look like there's anything wrong with that mount to me. Looks intact, with gaps where they're supposed to be...

Looks like the gaps in the rubber are closed as well. If anything, it decreases compliance. Pretty cool. They needed to do that, for sure.

That tranny mount looks good to me...on the new one, it looks solid but the inserts are like a paper insert...

Ohhh I see. They must tear over time as the mount goes bad. That explains the difference.
