'08 TLS(AT) - Turning key does nothing. Completely dead. No power.

I'll make this short and sweet. My 08 TLS has 63K on it.

2 Days ago I started getting a voltage warning on the NAVI screen about a weak voltage. Battery indicator came on and stayed on.

Yesterday I was driving to work and everything in the car started flickering, lights, lines on the NAVI, even the tachometer/speedometer. The accelerator was not giving gas to the car, and then it died. I got a jump from a co-worker and it did nothing. I went to get a new optima battery, the car stated and I made it to work.

8 hours later I'm going to leave work, i put the key into the ignition, and nothing happens. Absolutely nothing (With the brand new battery installed). No lights, no beeping, no immobilizer light. The car is completely dead.

After reading and reading online forever, i'm determined that it's the alternator, maybe i'm wrong. Anyone here have an idea what it can be??

How is it that even with the brand new battery, nothing happens.

**** I forgot to mention, about a week ago I started hearing a winding/whirring noise form the alternator/serpentine belt area when I press on the gas pedal (in P, N, D etc..) (That supercharger noise people keep mentioning on here)

Sounds like the alternator, but if you can get it to an autozone or pepboys they can check the alternator for you for free.

^^^ This.

Alternator likely is toast and isn't charging your battery (new or old).

I'm going to attempt to take off the alternator today and get it checked.

Since I have to take off the alternator i might as well replace the serpentine belt as well.

Anything else I might as well replace ? Someone advised to check the pulley of the belt too.

If you can jump start the car, you don't need to take the alternator off to get it tested. They can test it installed. I guess replace the belt if you want, but a wise man once said "if it aint broke, don't fix it." Depending on the age and miles on the belt it should be just fine to reuse.
