'08 Sudden Transmission Issues

Sorry for the double post. I attached this to the end of an existing transmission thread but don't know how visible it was. Need the car for a long trip soon so I'm hoping to get some suggestions.

I have an '08 TL that just turned 130k miles. Lately the car has been running fine. I just had some maintenance work done (ball joints/control arm on one side, new shocks/struts and battery). The transmission has been pretty solid with a very random "hard shift" every once in a while.

And then yesterday happened. I was on the highway for about 20 minutes. Got off and the shifting weirded out. The tach would rev up past it's normal shift point then shift hard into gear. Some shifts were delayed. Also when I shifted into manual mode, I noticed the dash displayed no gear numbers.

Is my transmission gone? Or does this just sound like pressure switch symptoms? Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks.

Do the 3x3 atf exchange with pressure switches replaced. Can't hurt can it? Also if fluid has never been swapped you will be upgrading to the newer recommended fluid which some say make a big difference. That is providing you stick with OEM or would you put redline or amsoil or some other brand?

Thanks for the reply.

The transmission fluid was changed once in the last 50k miles with OEM.

Do you have a fluid leak.

You need to change your fluid and pressure switches

Thanks for all the replies.

As a follow up, something tore apart one of the seal between the axle and transmission. The car was low on transmission fluid. Filled it up and the shifting improved.

That said, I feel like the shifting had degraded slightly since I've owned the car so I'm getting the switches changed as I type. Better safe than sorry.

Thanks again,
Leon
