'08 headlights

So I just inherited my TL from my parents. 52,000 miles with red paint. It's a beaut! But my issue is that I believe the headlights should stay on after I shut the car off at night...Correct? There is a setting in the computer that gives me the option of how long and I have it set to 15secs - but as soon as I shut my car off, the headlights turn off and the nav system goes SUPER bright. (At night). Am I crazy, or is this not right?

07-08s have 'auto on' headlights...your headlight 'stalk' might be on that setting.. check it.

headlights will only stay on if you leave them on...once the car is locked they will shut off on their own. Thats really the only option you have if you want the lights to stay on once the car is turned off. There is no timer to control that, the timer you are speaking of is for the interior lights.

Yeah, sorry for the lack of clarity. I meant, when I exit the car at night, I'd expect the lights to stay on until I lock the doors...They shut off immediately upon engine shut down..

NO NO NO NO..this is not true... THEY do stay on.. BUT when you turn them on.. make sure when you rotate the headlight switch..to rotate to the last stop.. AFTER the 'auto' setting. NOW, they will stay on when you turn off ignition and remain on until such time that you set in the user settings expire.. i.e. 15seconds. TRY IT.

As Acura604 said. Turn you headlight dial all the way on. Not to auto. This way they will stay on for a certain amount Of time or until you lock your car, but this is the only way for it to work. So technically you'll be running with the headlights on all the time.

Oh! Perfect then! Thanks. I will try it tonight with my lady. I knew the car should have some sort of function that makes them stay on..
