Exclamation 08 Auto TRANSMISSION ISSUE

2008 75K Auto TRANSMISSION ISSUE::
When I shift from park to reverse, the car jerks significantly. This ONLY happens when the car is "COLD". Few days ago I accidentally shifted to “L” while going 20mph and am wondering if this has anything to do with it. Bought car at 40k and have not changed trans fluid since. I dont think its the motor mounts because it only jerks when shifting cold at start up. Someone told me it may be the pressure in the solenoids?!?
ANY professional advice is Greatly appreciated! TIA

Do you park on an incline? Start by checking the fluid level. Then fluid change as thoiboi said and finally pressure switches if nothing else works. If you search for each of those topics you will find more knowledge than any mere mortal could wish for. Good luck.

I have 2008 with 93k miles, and it does the same thing when it's around 10F or below.

ATF was changed 3x3 when I bought it with 72k miles, and changed again around 10k ago. I also did pressure switches, and as it helped with shifting between gears, there is still delay before engaging reverse/drive from neutral/park and that jerking when really cold.

Change fluid anyways, but my guess is that this car just works this way. If I don't park on incline (if car won't roll if in neutral, with brakes off), I usually apply brake only enough to let shifter lock off. When I put car in gear, it moves the hole car and jerking is not that bad.

change the fluid, perform the 3x3 and you will see differences in shifting.

I got into an argument a couple days ago on my favorite place. The Facebook Acura TL 3G page. Some one responded to a question about the pressure switch replacement. He said it was FAKE NEWS. He knew someone that had 300k miles and never changed them. Lol

Mines does the same when ice cold when going into D, haven't tried R. Is yours only in R and not in D? Not professional advice but I'd say it's pretty much normal for it to do so. I'd do a 3x3 flush like everyone has recommended with dw-1 fluid.

Side note about pressure switches, I thought 07-08 pressure switches should be changed only when car gives a DTC code?

I like arguing. Lol. Actually, mainly hoping to find a deal on waffles or aspec wheels, to laugh at users who say mines instead of mines, there instead of there and the frequent use of 'em.
But only if they are native English speaking or if their Facebook profile shows their high school or college.
No reason that someone in college or having graduated should say "I got mines". Lol

I know. $600 for 4 listed near me locally for waffles. All 4 with pretty bad curb rash.

I did it to check if there will be any difference, and I'm pretty sure there is. But there is no way to really measure it

Not sure what the temperature is where your at but when the car is cold and stays outside and temps are cold don't forget the lower engine torque mounts are hydraulic filled and if the fluid is cold the mount will be somewhat stiffer then when engine reaches normal temp so this may be what your feeling.

I have a 2008 base TL and does none of that when I shift. I just hit 30,000 miles. Changed my transmission fluid @ 10,000 miles in 2012 with the redline protocol that is the subject of that large thread. Redline D4/LW racing/F. Original pressure switches. no worries.

Same thing on my 07 base, the colder the weather, the harder the jerk when shifting from Park to drive, or Park to Reverse, or Drive to Reverse etc. However, once cars temperature is up, its significantly less. Its been discussed before, but that delay is part of the design of these vehicles. Im waiting to swap out my pressure switches, I wonder if itll make any difference on the startup shifts

I drive a 99tl and it does the same thing. It's been doing that for past 100k miles. In the morning I shift the knob to drive but the trick is to not let the car engage in drive. Try to shift it to drive and then shift it to reverse. See if that helps.
