This will show the valve adjustment procedure:
https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-problems-fixes-114/125-valve-adjustment-procedure-scans-714317/

Just an FYI-The intake manifold needs to be removed to access the valve covers.

How many miles do you have on your car? My 08 TLS only has 45k and I'm hearing a knocking when I start my car.. odd if I already need a valve adjustment.

Thanks and miles on my car

Thanks for the info on valve adjustment.

The car has $58K and only has some light valve noise.

Most Honda's have a ticking at start up but should go away once warm.

valve specs

I looked at the link given and it is for a '04. I'm assuming the engine is a 3.2L rather than a 3.5L. Are the two engine valve adjustments the same and '04 will work? Thanks. Perry

It's still under warranty, take it in if the valve noise is actually elevated.

2007 Acura TL Warranty Program
Basic 4 year / 50,000 miles
Drivetrain 6 year / 70,000 miles
Roadside 4 year / 50,000 miles
Rust 5 year / Unlimited miles

The warranty wouldn't apply when done as a normal service at 105k, but if something has gone array it should be covered.

I just brought my 08 UA7 to the paragon dealer cause my check engine light came on they checked it out and said that I needed a valve adjustment I said ok fine my warranty should cover that and he said no unless there parts that need replacing then they cover it but just an adjustment would be considered wear and tear so I said fine then whats the $$damage$$ gonna cost me he quoted me for $500 I negotiated him down to $300 cause he wouldnt budge past that but I still saved me about $200

dropped my 07 TL-S off at the dealership this morning for some warranty work (power steering hose, evap solenoid, etc)...got a call from the dealer saying that i need a valve adjustment. i only have 54k miles and i have never experienced anything while driving/idling that would lead me to believe i need one.

i asked him why i need an adjustment at such low mileage. his response..."i have no idea."

thoughts?

I'm Positive they did not pull off the intake manifold to check the clearance on the valves.

*Because you're RIGHT outside of warranty and you'll have to pay for it out of pocket now*

Ask the moron how he knows you need a valve adjustment...and watch him stutter...

They have no way of knowing without pulling the the intake and valve covers. And I can guarantee they didn't do that.

And even if they did that, I guarantee you they didn't put it all back together while waiting for your decision...So if they told you they measured the clearances, tell them you're on your way in to see for yourself. Then watch as they start back pedaling..
