Hi guys..
I own a 07 TL-S and has 7800 miles on. First of all, I want to list some of my repair history for you and tell me what you guys think.

When I purhcased the car I noticed that, in the trunk there are two arms that hold the trunk and the arms are coverd by plastic covers, well I did not have two covers, the dealer took out one of it and ...... gave to other missing car.. I do not know,, anyway,.. I still do not have the part.. Dealer would not give to me.( Its another long story)

Second, I had to fix side brake parts because I had really loud noise when I reverse the car. Really horrible noise from rear brake that only happens the car is at reverse action. The dealer did not know what causes the problem had they repaird 3 times and kept my car for 4 weeks.( Dealer called Acura Tech Hotline many times) So I called the Acura headquarter and they issue me a complimentary B-1 service coupon( whatever that is.... is it worth it ? May be oil change and check brakes?)

Third, dealer needed to replace all of the brake pads, front disk, and re-surfaced rear disks, due to terrible vibration while driving and stopping.

Fourth............ this is really fun part.. Last Tuesday.. It was shinny day around 73 degrees.. Little cloud... I was driving RT 29 in Maryland.
All the sudden I hear loud "POP!!!!!!!" from above my head...
Next thing I hear is air noise from sunroof area... So I open to see what was going on... as soon as I open the sunroof panel from inside of the car, all the glasses were pouring into the car. While I was driving.~~!!!!!
So, again..... to the dealer.... Service adviser and his manager came to check out the car....As soon as they saw the exploded sunroof, they had this weird smile and said" Well it is the third time....." What the......!
It was cover under warranty, but What you guys think?
Shall I keep drive the car or sell it.. or ASK FOR A NEW CAR?
I am tired of taking my car to the dealer. They know me now....
I am not angry anymore... just SAD

 

Did you buy the car new? If yes check out lemon law in your state if you are also not past the time limit. From what you posted it sounds like you may need to find another dealer if possible in your area.

The sunroof problem has come up before though not on very many cars. You will take a financial beating if you sell the car. Certainly sounds like your luck has not been good.

 

Wow! I'm so sorry to hear of your situation with your car. What a pain in the ass if you ask me. I have a 07 Type S as well and I also have all these annoying problems; hard to shift gears, rattles, door lock malfunctioning and locked me in a couple of times when raining, car pull to the right and steering wheel not center due to that. So far my gear problem has been fixed after numerous visits to the dealerships. The others are still on-going.

Anyway, to answer your question about what you should do about your car. I think you should ask for a free brake replacement for later on and at least a life time oil change or something to that nature. Nonetheless, if you choose get a lawsuit going to fight with the Lemon-Law like MR1 indicated, you have to be prepare to spend a lot of time with it. But you should check into it anyway to give you an understanding of Lemon Law. Unfortunately I am still waiting for my case that I filed since last year August. I was told by my lawyer that the court date is coming in December. Yeh! The sad thing is that I'm not enjoying my ride while waiting. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Lemon, check your states laws. I just went through this with GM on an 08 duramax pickup, it took forever but didn't cost me a dime and they owed me money. Start asap though, they'll take forever. Also, I made them buy it back which is a pain, if you're just doing a swap for a replacement (new of course) it's easier....good luck. Call the GM (not the service GM, the GM of the dealership) and tell him you want to pursue a repurchase/replacement of your car due to it being a lemon. If he gives you any hell immediately file a complaint on the BBB website. The BBB will FORCE Acura to make you happy.

 

Oh, and don't waste money on an attorney, they can't do anything for you other than get you a court date. You don't want that, you want them to resolve it through the BBB and stay out of court. My whole process took about 2 months. Brocallion, I'm sorry you went the court route...

 

Is your sun roof tinted? I know a shop that wont tint a sunroof past a certant % due to this exact issue.

 

wtf?!! the sunroof actually exploded?!! that is messed up!

 

Actually not WTF. It should be a WTF thing but since I've seen 3 or 4 other posts on the same thing it no longer surprises me. The leading theory is that it's tempered glass and somehow a stress has been set up in it either during manufacturing or in use. Eventually POW !

I don't think you're going to get a new car out of this. Get it repaired and move on. Try another dealer that's competent as well.

Well... the dealer fixed the sunroof under warranty.. And it was not tinted... Also they fixed rattles coming from the front wheel.. they say it was some type of cover that was loose and tighten all the bolts.
Now I am wondering... What's next????????? Engine or Trans? Actually I am little bit concerned about the Trans. I hear clutch slipping while I drvie up hill. But the dealer could not find anything at this time.. But they used quarter tank of oil while they test drive. Where did they go??
