'07 TL-S squeeky belt noise issue

so i was driving my 07 tls and stopped at a light and heard my car squeeking really bad. i took it to the dealer today and luckly they heard the noise too ( i tought with my luck it would stop when i got there) and the tech said it was something aroung the timing belt or something.. and they would need to order some kit or something? and i could replace my timing belt early ( i only have 31,000 on my car) for only the cost of the belt...has anyone heard of this or had this problem??

Are you sure they said timing belt and not drive (AKA serpentine) belt?

I highly doubt it's the timing belt. The serpentine belt and/or the auto-tensioner for that belt have been known to be noisy. Many times just flexing the auto-tensioner and/or repositioning the drive belt takes care of the problem.

Well, if they mean the drive belt, I wouldn't pay for the belt. It probably just needs to be repositioned to get rid of the noise. I had the same thing happen to me with a brand new drive belt about 3 days after I put it on and all I had to do was reposition it. Noise gone...

Try to find out exactly what they are talking about. They might be talking about the timing belt tensioner, but I kind of doubt it at that low of mileage...

OK, so it WAS the timing belt tensioner...Interesting...

Why are they charging you $65 if it's under warranty? For the belt itself?? If so, they're ripping you off. List price for a TB is only $55.68...

Hi can you please confirm that this has resolved the problem?
They replaced the "timing belt tensioner".
07 TL-S, I'm going to the dealer for the third time next week.

Cold startup sounds like a squealing belt/accessory or tensioner bearing.

Although it's all warranty covered, if I can save future trips that would be appreciated

Thanks

I think there are a couple of issues with squeaks in this area. Check the TSB's on this page: https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/3g-tl-technical-service-bulletins-tsbs-3g-garage-j-016-a-613659/

Be sure to read the instructions to access the PDF's at the top of the first post.

Maybe TSB 08-031? Or TSB 10-035?

Dealer fixed the issue. I believe there may be a TSB for this.
They had to replace the bolts on the AC compressor. The stock bolts are too short and wear, eventually loosening the pulley. The wobbling pulley is what creates the squealing.
New bolts are longer, have not had the problem since I got it fixed a couple months ago.

I was gonna say there is a TSB listed for this exact problem. They should know the problem right away since they would pull the TSB up.
