07-08 Type-S rims weak?

ok, what the heck. granted potholes have been pretty bad this year in general, but i just bent my THIRD rim of the year. ive only had the car 6 months, and have already bent 3 rims. i have NEVER bent a rim before....so these rims must be at least a little weak. what do you think? anyone else have this problem? my TL type-S experience hasnt been the best so far...

Fortunately I haven't had any problems with the rims on mine. I got the wheel and tire insurance just in case.

Remember man, you not running 60 series tires, you runnin 45 series, less cushioning. try to avoid potholes whenever possible, it causes more than bent rims, can actually cause problems to suspension, drivetrain, brakes, you get the point....

Havent heard of anyone having problems....

my STi had 225/45 (3.98" sidewall height), my RSX-S had 215/45 (3.8" sidewall height), my RDX has 235/55 (5.08" sidewall height), and my TL Type-S has 235/45 (4.16" sidewall height). so the sidewall on these isnt the smallest ive ever driven on...plus with 44k miles on the STi, 40k on the RSX-S, 23k on the RDX and 8k on the TL-S, of all those, three bent rims, all on the TL-S. must just be bad luck.

i dont purposely drive into potholes...it always happens at night, when i cant even tell there was a pothole before driving into it.

get wider tires for them... the stock tires make the rim stick out and are prone for curb rashes.

I feel ya, march 2007 I cracked my stocky. Passenger side in front... city didn't cover it either. bubbled the sidewall and the rim had a 3 in crack going towards the middle.

Just curious, how long would a tire las with a bubble in it? I replaced both rim and tire just for safety.

you shouldnt drive with a bubble on the sidewall. have that tire replaced as soon as possible.

check the air pressure in your tires, if you have already bent rims, I would recommend you run them at around 37 PSI cold.
