'06 TL whining from transmission...ADVICE Please.
I have a 06 TL with automatic transmission, one week ago while in fast food drive thru trans started to have high pitch whine it was jerking/shuddering, then noise went away and has felt slightly different as far as shifts but not slipping or shuttering for this whole week of driving. yesterday the noise returned and car would not move. i turned engine off and restarted and was able to drive it back to the GM dealership i work at, it is still making whining noise(not the normal trans whine). I am aware of the tranny problems in these cars just thinking from sound of the noise its like it is a fluid flow problem rather than what most dealers are going to say it needs a new tranny, not sure if the 3/4 pressure switches would cause it not to move? restricted filter? any advice greatly appreciated.
Sorry to hear this...

Back on topic, it was too late for me. I heard the whine one day and thought that it was the power steering. Tell tale sign is this different "whine" sound while in 1 through 3rd gear. Sounded like I had a super charger. Probably something to do with the torque converter. Anyhow, it went away after I flushed the fluid, but came back. Then it slipped ALL the way. I was in 3rd gear and gave it some gas. Didn't grab fourth instead went from 1.5K rpm to 6K. I thought uh O. Put it to sport mode, manually shifted w/ foot off the gas. Got home and changed the fluid again. Worked fine for a day. Then went dead after I got home on Friday. All the crud from the slip must have mixed itself in there.
So yeah, I am done. New tranny from Jasper is being put in. Should be nicer and it has 3 years 100K warranty (parts and labor). I'll upload the vid of the whine to see if it's the same. Sound was recorded under left front fender then right.
Good luck to you man.
