'06 TL-S flywheel wobble

Car was being driven when took a speed bump too hard and car shut off and would not start again. After numerous mechanics looked a the issue it was determined that cylinder had zero compression ( still unknown why )
Bought a used motor and since the transmission was coming off, thought it was good idea to replace the clutch as it was the original and 120k miles on it. Mechanic took the flywheel off to have it resurface but the machine shop pointed that they hadn't seen many of these flywheels and that it rotated about 1/2 in either direction and also wobbled while bolted. Is this normal for these cars? Put a new clutch and started the car, move it about 10 feet before a noise was heard and the car would not move. No grinds to put in gear but car will not move as if it had no clutch. Engine was removed again to check and clutch appears to be intact. Not owning a TL before not sure it the flywheel is the culprint. All flywheels I've seen do not move by hand while attached to the engine.

any suggestions are welcomed.

thank you

I would not resurface a dual mass flywheel. That's just me.

IMO you should've replaced it, or better yet, looked at aftermarket clutch and flywheel options.

Dual mass flywheels have springs and once they wear out, you can move it by hand in either direction. Your flywheel is toast.

Why did you pull the engine vs just checking up on the clutch / flywheel 1st? No need to pull the engine out for that.

Engine was pulled because it was being replace. Yes i can rotate the flywheel by hand a few inches. The shop did resurface it and maybe the amount taken now prevents proper contact with the clutch. Just now learning about dual mass flywheels DMF

Does the flywheel move like the one in the video provided in this thread on the CL side?

You're not supposed to resurface dual mass flywheels! Only replace them. And if your TL is an '06, the replacement is only $209 from rockauto.com.

I came to find out that the clutch disc was placed backwards. The flywheel was resurfaced and the everything put back together. Now the mechanic is telling me that the slave cylinder is not pushing the clutch fork. Loosing my faith in this guy..

Yeah, I would have lost faith in him too after putting the disc in backwards. Time to take it elsewhere.
