'06 TL-oil in coolant, what to check?
Hi. I have done a search, and still have some questions. What should I have check/replace since I have some oil in the coolant?... What I got from the search I should flush the system out?..
I have about 112k on my 06 tl supercharge auto.
thanks[/RIGHT]

Is there coolant in the oil?
I don't think there are any places where engine oil can overcome the cooling system pressure (14-18psi) and contaminate the system, unless there are cracks in the block.
Compression test?

Do you mean an oil cooler or do you mean an intercooler? There is no intercooler with this supercharger. No oil coolers either but if there was an aftermarket one added it would likely be air to oil, not water to oil unless it's in the radiator.
You can get oil in the water but it's more rare than water in the oil. These cars can see 60psi or more of oil pressure so it's more than enough to overcome coolant pressures. However, I'm not sure of how the TL's oiling system is routed. Oil gets to the cams somehow, likely passing through the head and past the headgasket. I don't know how close any oil passes to any coolant.
How much oil are we talking about? Is it possible it's the trans fluid since that does have a water to oil cooler? I would be checking the trans for water contamination. Nothing will ruin the trans quicker than antifreeze in the oil.

If you have oil in the coolant it is most likely a headgasket issue. When transmission fluid gets into the coolant it makes "strawberry milkshake" so it is unmistakable. You need to block check the engine. It is basically a large tube with blue fluid inside. You put it over the radiator neck while the engine is running, if the fluid changes yellow there are hydrocarbons in the coolant (most likely headgasket). You can probably do a youtube search for how to check for bad headgasket to see the test.

With the trans fluid being black a lot of the time, it can look very similar to engine oil. I agree there's a good chance it's the head gaskets but pulling the dipstick on the trans is an easy first thing to check. I would also like to know if the engine oil has any water in it but it looks like the OP has disappeared.
