06 TL Nav/Radio backlight & power sockets out

Hi all,

I've looked through the posts, used the search funtion, and google'd all over the place looking for the answer but I've gotten nothing.

All my 'normal' dash lights (speedo/tach/warning, etc...) work except the nav/radio/steering wheel lights. Can't see anything at night to change stations, cancel nav, etc... I've checked every fuse in the car with a multimeter and they're all good. I see posts about people changing their lights to LED but not much about just completely non functioning lights. Any ideas?

Also, neither one of the power sockets (cigarette lighters) have power. Again, I've checked all the fuses and they're all good (even the ones in the engine compartment). Any idea if these two issues are related? Any advice on where to start?

Thanks!

-Alex

Hi Alex,

If you navigate to our TSB section from the 3G Service Dept. (stickied at the top of the forum) you will see a TSB about the issue with the fix. Print it out and take it to the dealer! They should do it for free!

Thank you csmeance! That sounds great, I'm definitely encouraged to think this is something that I might not have to fix myself!

At your suggestion I went to the TSB section and maybe I'm overlooking it, but I can't find it. I'm only looking at the '06 section though, should I be looking at all the years? I'm not sure how best to go about finding it.

I've pasted the links I found in the TSB section below but can't see anything that looks like it applies to the power sockets or the radio backlights. Please forgive the noob question but would you mind pointing me to the TSB number of the one you believe applies to my situation?

Thank you for your help, I really appreciate it!

After looking again I've found 06-001 which refers to the nav/radio issue. Is that what you found? I'm out of warranty, do you think I'll have any luck getting them to do it free?

Do you see any that refer to the power socket issue? Again, thank you for any help you can give.

Took it to the dealer and they fixed the power sockets pretty quickly (~$200 in labor) - they said one of the ground wires weren't securely connected. That's the good news...

The bad news is that to fix the backlight issue their next step was to replace the speedo console at a cost of ~$1100 and they couldn't guarantee that would fix it. I can't justify paying that just for a chance to get the backlights back. As soon as I get it home I guess I'll see if changing out the bulbs will help.

Anyone have any more suggestions?
