'06 TL Having Trouble Cranking
I have about 70k miles on the car now. It has been consistently starting up fine and reliably up until a few days ago. I have a one year old battery in the car.
When I turn the key to start the car, nothing happens, no click or any noise. Only faint sound i can hear is a light whirrring for 2-seconds (i've been told this is the fuel pump priming). All the lights in the car are working properly and headlights don't dim, so I think the battery is holding the charge ok.
I have to try starting maybe 10-20 times until finally it cranks and engine starts up smooth. I need to do this almost each time i let the car sit for an extended period (several hours or more).
Is there a way I can tell what part needs to be replaced and DIY? What instruments or tools will I need? I am reluctant to take it to a shop cause i know costs can run high.
Thanks guys!

Had a similar problem after replacing my starter. Turns out there was a bad connection, so i ttok the starter off, cleaned the contacts and put it back. Before, it did it maybe 5-times a week, now i barely get it once in 3 months
You can get a Reman starter for about 100$ if you send your old one back. I like Reman, had used many refurb parts before and none have caused any issue. Plus it's still an OEM part technically with a few replacement components

I got a NAPA starter that has a lifetime warranty on it for $120- they have a cheaper version that has a limited warranty as well. The one I got is the Premium model vs the standard model. I'm satisfied with it so far.
This is the one i bought off amazon:
