'06 TL Failure to accelerate?

Hey guys/gals. So I just bought my Acura TL yesterday and was in love with it after a few test drives. I finally leave the dealer drive not 7 miles, and the car seems to lose all acceleration. Im confused I pull over think maybe I hit something, nothing.. I start up the car again, it drives again and not 15 seconds later the accelerator stop accelerating. It then randomly tries to kick in and kicks off in the same instant and the cars feels like is jerking a bit. There is no weird noises from the engine, was quiet and purring like a kitten.. I tried a third time and i didnt make in 10 seconds before calling it quits. The car has since been towed, and back at the dealership, and will be in the shop today to see what the problem is. I did notice my Engine light come on after it happened and VSA briefly.

Any ideas? I read maybe its a Timing belt, or maybe its a Sensor.. I have no idea about any of this stuff. Is this a common problem with Acuras?

Any information would be appreciated.

we have no clue whats going on with the car, as we cant inspect it over the internet. it can be many things.

it's a used car. the dealer reset the check engine light and hoped that you wouldnt drive it for an extended amount of time during your test drive setting off the light.

then once you bought it, the check engine light went off.

the check engine light needs to be checked via OBDII scanner to check what code it is.

once you find out what code it threw, then we can further assist you, as the code narrows down what is wrong with the car.

without the code, we do not know as it could be many many many different issues.

Kind of sounds like a bad APP sensor or transmission. (It's not a TB if the engine is "purring").

Hopefully the dealership will make it right for you. Will be interested to know what code/s it threw. Keep us updated.

I was thinking the APP sensor as well, but lots to rule out at this point.

Excuse me, but why isn't it the dealership covering these issues?

Agreed - unless you are trying to diagnose from a far? The dealership should be on the hook for fixing whatever is wrong with you TL.

They had me towed and nullified the purchase, they wanted to put me in a Chevy impala SS with the v8. Lets be real here, while a great car the impala is.. Its no TL, v8 or not.

I told them to call me today if the car needed something minor and I will re buy it. If its Major, they have lost my business. Its not counting against my warranty and they said to treat it as if i had never even come in to buy it.

Oh snap.. yeah if you bought it from a dealer and they actually gave you a warranty then you definitely dodged a bullet there! please comeback and let us know what the dealer finds out about the car

It is good for the OP, but at the same time it doesn't sound like it is minor. Don't know the dealer but, I would expect most to say, we will fix it and get it right back to you - sorry for the inconvenience. Nullifying a purchase isn't typically how cars that are already sold are handled after the fact. So OP - they refunded your $$$???
However I am very interested to see how this plays out.

So at the end of the day, they fixed the issue, apparently the computer wasn't picking up the oil properly.. or that's what i was told. Either way, the car is running perfect. And I must say, I am absolutely in love with this car. This car is 100% me. Thanks for the advice guys. Im happy to be here with this community.
