06 TL Dieseling (Run on) when turned off
HI All,
For those who have seem me in the forums might know i've put a ton of work in the car. I am all out of options now... With new mounts, spark plugs, coil packs, valve cover gaskets... etc my car STILL
has a bit of run on when turning off.
No matter when cold or hot (worse when cold) if i turn off the engine it rumbles for a half second to a second before it stops moving. Its very annoying because theres a noticeable shake and vibration from the engine as if it's Dying not turning off. Any ideas what i could be?
I noticed recently my car does shudder a little when turning over upon start. That used to happen when I had a bad valve cover gasket letting oil go down the spark-plug tube into the cylinder so in the early morning the cylinder had some oil on it. I replaced the VCG and it went away, now it seems to be back.
Any suggestions? Im thinking fuel pump but I hear those filters are life time but who knows what that means.. Also Ive tried keep the engine power on for a few seconds before starting incase the fuel pressure from the pump is low and it makes no difference so i doubt its the pump. But u never know...?
To be clear, Its NOT like the engine run on like in this video
Its turns off more like the the car ran out of fuel

That happens to my TL when you turn it on and then off right away on a cold start. Are all your relays and fuses good?
Does the engine run fine otherwise?
Love that video, you can make a beat out of it.

I am not honestly sure about the relays, never had to check em tbh. Any way to know if theyre going bad or which ones? I have no CE light. Mines does it very lightly on hot startup and alot on cold start. The engine runs smooth, but if its been driving local in traffic is starts to get sluggish (maybe thats ulev kicking in?)
