'06 TL Auto transmission failure
'06 TL Auto transmission failure
On I-5 in northern CA yesterday. Cruise control on, start uphill, torque converter downshifts fine. Reach top of hill, does not upshift. Turn cruise off. Downhill, still no upshift. Shifting 'manually' OK. Put in neutral, OK. Back into gear, same problem. Next uphill, pressing accelerator causes engine to rev but car slows. Pulled over, some smoke. AAA towed to nearest town (Redding). No Acura dealer or certified Honda dealer. Bottom line: new (remanufactured) tran $4,715. Car has 87k miles, no more warranty. Acura will do nothing.
My previous car was '03 TL Type-S. Tran failed, Acura replaced no charge.
My next car would have been another Acura. Not now. Never again.'

Wow. 2 for an unfortunate 2. Sorry to hear that OP. Sounds like you either have bad luck with transmissions or have a questionable driving style. If I were you, I wouldn't get another TL either based on that trend.
