'06 TL 6MT Suggestions?
Hello. I'm new to this forum. To those of you with 6MT, what problems do you guys have and what should I look out for when buying the car? I'm looking to get an 06 w/ 6MT. Thanks for any input. Cheers.
I bought my 06 6MT about 2 years ago with 35k miles. It's at 61k right now. Other than some little things, it's been pretty solid mechanically.
The only mechanal problem I had was front Brembo breaks squealing with light application. My dealer replaced the pads under warranty and the noise was gone.
You might get various interior rattles but they are pretty easy fix once you locate them.
A lot of people with the 3rd gear pop out issue would recommend replacing the transmission fluid with the GM one. I haven't had that issue yet.
Congrats on finding a rare car.

I think 06 is a very safe to buy year, the car was already out for 2 years so Acura had some time to improve things and work out bugs. The TPMS monitor is convenient as well, it doesn't take much effort to check it manually but I'd much rather push a button. lol
Have you found these cars or are those what you are looking for? If you have, can you link them? 6MT is very hard to find.
TSX would give you better handling and fuel economy, but TL will have smoother ride and faster performance.....

Any other insights on should I get a TSX or TL?
Is that click specific to the 06s? Any way to get rid of it? I don't notice it anymore, but it'd be nice to get rid of it.
The GM transmission fluid got rid of my 3rd gear problem.
One thing to note. Don't over rev your engine (by accidentally shifting into 1st instead of 3rd). The pistons can hit your valves and bend them. Unfortunately, I think I'm in that situation right now, and I'm still trying to decide how to deal with it (leave it as is or have it repaired). I wish they designed the engine so that this couldn't happen. The pistons have recesses in them, but the valves still hit. I don't get it.

I believe you can either grease the pedal assembly or replace the master clutch cylinder for the clicking. It's not specific to 06s, just any 6MT TL really.
I have a '06 TL 6MT and the only issue I have had is the transmission popping out of third gear when I first put it into gear. I bought mine at Carmax and convinced them of the problem and they replaced it for free (about a $1800 fix). I also have hear the clicking noise a time or two, but it bothers my Wife more than I.
One interesting note about this car, I work for a tier one supplier that makes the front engine cradle for the TL and one of the options that we made that year was a China model, it had an extra weld nut for a hay guard. Apparently, the Chinese would utilize the vehicle to roll over their hay in the road to flatten it out, in the earlier models the hay would roll into the engine compartment and catch fire.
