'06 TL 6MT 3rd gear gets stuck

Hello... Anyone experiece this problem?

When I try to shift from 2nd to 3rd the gear will not go in all the way.
I either have to push it really hard or put it back into 2nd and 3rd again.

Any ideas? I went to the dealer and they said that they could not reproduce the problem.

Thanks in advance

This is a very common problem and discussed very frequently here in the forums. Do a search and you'll find many discussions and solutions.

The quick and most effective fix would be to change your transmission fluid to GM Synchromesh Friction Modified transmission fluid.

What he said. Nobody I know of, including me, has regretted using the GM Synchromesh Friction Modified transmission fluid.

Mods, please

Yup...that's the fix. My '05 and '07 6MT's both had the 3rd gear problem, remedied immediately by the GM fluid.

Ditto! Just changing the tranny fluid made a world of difference. Do It!

Is there any break-in mileage one should reach in an '07 TLS 6sp before changing fluids? I have the same 3rd gear problem with 2400 miles on it.

Thanks for the answers. I talked to my dealer and they told me that they will not change the fluid for me, but they will look at it again. I will post an update on Friday.

I changed mine about 6kmiles ago to the synchromesh. It took about 500 miles for all the 3rd gear "notchiness" to go away, but it does and until I just read this post, I had forgotten about having the problem entirely. Huge difference, change the 6MT fluid.

Picked up my car from the dealer and they said that they changed by tranny fluid with their version of the "MESH" under warranty

So far so good.

If your experience with the newer Acura MTF is like mine your happiness will be short lived and you'll be back to pondering the GM SMFM fluid. I hope not but I bet so. Sorry.

My dealer changed out my original fluid with the newer "Mesh" fluid too to try to remedy the third gear problem. It was silky smooth with no problems for about a month before the issue came back in its full glory.

Sounds like they slipped you some GM stuff.... Anyway, as long as it's shifting right for you that's what matters.

Gm is the fix, end of story. I went in for many tranny fluid changes at acura.

Problem never went away until I put the GM fluid in....
