05 TL Ventilation Problem

Apologies in advance for not using proper terminology...The airflow from one of my vents is stuck in the feet/defrost mode. When I hit the ventilation Mode button, it properly switches for all the vents except the center driver-side vent. I bought my TL used in 2011 and airflow from this one vent was always a bit suspect: it sometimes seemed a little weaker than its partner vent on the passenger-side but I could deal with it. However, now it's completely stuck in the feet/defrost mode for this one vent, and I have no clue what to do.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Is it nav or non navigation version? Do the self test. Probably one of vent servos is broken/stuck .

I posted couple manual pages in this thread how to do the test.

Thank you, Peter. It is the Nav version. I'll check your post and see if I can do the test.

I ran the diagnostic twice. These are the results from the first run:

Driver's Side
O - An open or short in the driver's mode control motor circuit
I - An open in the driver's air mix control motor circuit

Passenger's Side
Q - An open or short in the passenger's mode control motor circuit
R - A problem in the passenger's mode control linkage, doors, or motor

I ran it a second time 10 minutes later to double-check the results and it only displayed:

Driver's Side
O - An open or short in the driver's mode control motor circuit

Lastly, when I started the car yesterday, the AC was already on and the air returned to the center vent which had previously been "blocked". Any thoughts and suggestions are appreciated.

So I followed the instructions to get to the Driver's Mode Control Motor on page 21-70 of the service manual. However, there appear to be two similar parts under there (79278 and 79279). Which one do I want to try to replace and what does the other one do?

Which one of these is the driver's mode control motor and what does the other one do?Many thanks!!

I'm pretty sure it is part 79278.

I found this out by finding the part number 79146-SEP-A02 here: 2007 Acura Honda AC Blend Door Mode Motor Assy 79278 79146SEPA02 | eBay

Then referencing it as the mode motor here: Motor Assembly, Drive Mode | Genuine Acura | 79146-SEP-A02 : Acura Parts & Accessories - Genuine Factory OEM | Acurapartsworld.com

Looking at the schematics in the owner's manual, I think you are correct since it has a 10P connector. I believe the other one (79279) is the driver's air mix control motor since it has a 5P connector. As you may have seen, I'm trying to solve a problem with that part in a separate post:

Can anyone else confirm before I tear this apart? Thx!!
