To all 05 TL owners out there. Do you ever notice a loud sound coming from the engine after shifting into gear? It almosts sounds like the car took a hard shift. It's not a long winding sound or anything. It's just like a quick abrupt boom, and then you don't hear it again. I have the A/C off or on when this occurs, so I know it's not the a/c. Anyone know? THANKS!

The noise is of that little metal piece holding your car in park disengaging. The entire weight of the car rests on that piece, and it undergoes alot of stress. When it pulls out, you can say it pops due to the stress. I use the parking brake in this order:

Park
Put Car in neutral
Engage parking brake
let go of foot-brake
put transmission into park
Shut off car

This way, I do not have the clunk.
