A couple days ago I was on my way home and my RPms started fluctuating. A couple minutes later my gauges dropped to 0 and my car really started dogging. I checked under the hood and the starter cable was completely corroded in half.

I ordered and installed the new cable, also replaced the battery and it ran fine for two days but the battery light remained on. This morning the same thing is happening but no corrosion and a good connection. By the time I pulled in my car would barely go 2mph. I'm thinking the alternator but would love some advice. Thanks

 

What color did you dye the dog?

 

Conditions? Is it wet where you are? certainly sounds electrical-- we will need more info about the conditions to help much. You also say it won't start. won't crank? won't even do that? cranks and fires but won't stay running? Completely dead?
