I am getting a noise (really 2) from engine compartment of my TL. The first is a "howling" noise that increases in intensity as I turn the steering wheel in either direction. Steering pump? The second is more of a "rattling" noise that sounds like a belt noise and that is coming from the right (passenger) side of the engine. This may be the "whining" noise described earlier. Both noises are quite loud, you can hear them inside the car with the windows up and the fan blowing. Any Ideas?

 

After the car setting for a couple hours, I restarted it and guess what? The noises are gone! Thanks anyway!

 

Sounds like power steering. If you've had it once, chances are it'll happen again.

Have you had the power steering TSB done yet?

Thanks for your reply. I have had the TSB done. I will go by the dealer service department tomorrow. As always, I am sure there will not be any noise at that time!! HaHa!!
