04 Acura TL

I have a 2004 acura tl automatic that I believe the torque converter went bad because after the car warms up it instantly doesn't want to move in gear, Oil smells very burnt and black even after a flush. While cold the car does move but jerks but as soon as the car is warmed up it slips out of gear and is practically in neutral, I found a good deal from a 2006 Acura TL automatic and I was wondering if the transmission would fit in the 04, Do they bolt up perfectly? Thanks

Do you guys think it's a torque converter issue as well with the problem I stated above?

A 2006 transmission will bolt into your 2004 with no issues. As for the torque converter, meh, I'm thinking the transmission is toast.

I know the 07-08 Auto trannies were redesigned and fixed. Does that include the 2006 ones too?

Unfortunately no, the latest and greatest fixes were in the 2006-2007 Accord V6 (aka. AV6) transmissions and in the 2007-2008 TL transmissions. Doubly unfortunately is the fact the 2007 and 2008 TL units will not bolt up to your engine.

Long story short, for the best and most reliable automatic transmission for your 2004 is the BAYA coded AV6 transmission.
