'04 Acura TL 6spd - Long Crank Time

For 3 days now the TL has been taking 5 to 10 cranks to start.

Battery is good, strong, new. Starter seems fine, grounds seem fine. All maintenance and fluids are good. Gas is good, always 93. 140k miles.

If i prime the engine a couple times it starts quicker so I'm thinking fuel pump assembly/fpr or relay. Any ideas? Cats smell ok. No cel.

How are you making these determinations?
They are just subjective observations rather than objective readings

What's the battery reading on a multimeter ? Is this the original starter?

It may be also be the main relay but you should measure the voltage of the battery and then rule out the starter solenoid

Yes, subjective. I do need to check but unlikely. The battery is an AGM less than two years old with more CCA then a yellow top. The starter is original but the car cranks like it should, sounds like it should, runs like a champ once it's started. Just cranks for way too long all the sudden.

Trying to find the scan for the 3rd gen TL but here is the 2nd gen for the time being: https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-tl-p...-relay-931252/

It should in the same relative location. You can try examining it for cold/broken solder joints

Check the condition of the + battery cable. At this age it could be corroded and not conducting properly. I had to change mine last year.

It was the starter for me. Took a couple cranks before it would start and sometimes it would just start. The starter crank was still strong so I changed everything but the fuel pump and starter. Finally took it to my mechanic and he suggested the starter. Had him change it because I didn't have the time to and it's been great since then.
