Just an FYI, my 2001 V6 Accord (which has a J30, a sibling of the J32A3) experienced an intermittent misfire on all cylinders (per the OBD-II codes). By unplugging one coil at a time and going for a quick drive I was able to isolate a single coil causing the issue. In the Accord world it is well known the OBD-II system in the Gen 6 Accords would report numerous misfires when only one coil had failed; don't know if the same thing holds true for the Gen 3 TL.

It's possible one of mine hasn't failed yet but is shorting out. Will be replacing all today hopefully. If I ever fucking leave prison! Aka work.

I did but it's possible it's shorting out which would mean it would create a ghost misfire. Luckily packs are cheap so just replacing them all would be economical

I wasn't talking to you hint that why I quoted Justonjack, however I kindly congrats you able purchase a 3g TL in 2017 we get it you moving up. I been owned my Type Slow out right since avg market cost $30k for a TL. BTW a stock IS350 will destroy your "bad ass" TL in straight line. If you willing to take couple twisty corner with me then come to H-Town either meet me in Austin new circuit, my Type Slow are now taking application of people who willing run their car instead of their mouth. If you want straight lone then I would love to welcome you at Texas mile or Texas 2k on my CBR 1000 RR.

Justin on the other note when you able to help me detail one of my car? lmfao.

Oh and by the way got my 3G 06 TL in 07 for 34k. I have 2 of these bitches and a shitty Mazda Speed three. Who the fuck drag races a TL??? It's just not fun. Not in a FWD car anymore. I'm Gridlife my dude. Tires, brakes, rotors, and pads.

Yup, I got that part; I troubleshooted (trouble shot?) mine as well and got mixed results. Actually driving with only five coils plugged in on a rotational basis is how I narrowed it down to one coil.

Hmm didn't think about doing that actually. What did the car do when you unplugged the coil that let you know it was screwed?

I love my TL's though. Why I bought a second one for Gridlife. Next car is either Audi S5 6 speed or IS350.

For the first four test drives the car ran way-WAY crappier than before; on the fifth test drive with the coil which ended up being the culprit unplugged, it drove like it did with all six plugged in. I did the sixth coil just in case and the car ran like crap; just like the first four test drives.

I replaced the fifth coil and not an issue since (and that was over 20,000 miles ago).

I'm not saying this will end up solving the mystery, but hey, it's a free diagnostic so why not.

Your profile age said you are "22 years old" so 10 years ago (according to your statement) you are "12 years old" either your parent bought the car before you know what a steering wheel is and past down to you or you been lying (which one is it?) in your OP (see above) so what does race car mean? LMFAO this is sole reason I stay away from most young TL owner. Do you realize even a new Civic SI with Hondata tune will embarrass your "race car" right? you still young and learn to throw insult to random people for no reason instead of read the comment, you really sound like a 22 years old who beat anything in the world.

BTW IS350 still not the fastest car in its class .

I love living in New Hampshire; we hit a high of 82°F today and tonight it is going to be something like 57°F which is really nice sleeping weather. I'm thinking to wax my new (to me) TL this weekend.

Meh, I love winter, bring it on.

The good news for my wife and I; we sold our house a few years ago and rented a care taker apartment on a 70 acre horse farm, and because our only responsibility is taking care of the horses three days per week, there is no snow to shovel, no grass to cut, no heating and cooling issues, and no other normal chores which come with home ownership.

I put that so I feel young.... I'm actually 28. 2 years going on big 30!

But in all seriousness.

Update!

Car is no longer misfiring. Ran the car a little hard to get some food and came back home. Exhaust note has changed slightly! Sounds muffled and a bit restricted. I am suspecting the High flow Pre cats as the culprit. Don't have the necessary tools to inspect them so I will be going to a shop and renting a lift. If it is infact the cats I will have to gut em and wait for new ones to come in.

A clogged cat would cause exhaust fumes to be funneled back into the engine, disrupting the air/fuel ratio and thus causing the misfire. I think that this time this is correct.

At time of exhaust note changed the CEL is still on but because I did not reset it. It was not flashing so not actively misfiring. No reason exhaust note should have changed.

Well of course it isn't! I just love the IS350's looks and performance is amazing! My buddy let me drive his and damn Toyota is definitely doing it right with their luxury line.
