[07 TL-S] Discovered an oil leak which seems to be from the PCV Valve?

As the title says, I discovered an oil leak around what I believe to be the PCV Valve area. Has anyone done this before, or rather is this a common occurrence on our cars? It seems like a simple removal of that single bolt and a new one can go in, but I usually have a bad experience when I underestimate things. And as you can probably see, it must have been going on for a while because it has gunked up quite a bit.

Regarding a new assembly, am I correct in assuming this would be the right assembly with the required o-rings: https://www.hondapartsunlimited.com/...dXRvbWF0aWM%3D

Your avatar gets me every time lol.

So in this case it's just a simple bolt removal and swap? I'd have to call my local Acura or Honda and see if they have the 17130-RCA-A02 in stock.

Thank @cu2wagon for it

Yeah it's pretty simple, don't overthink it. Also try amazon.com, ebay, or www.oemacuraparts.com or the plethora of other online dealership sites.

Thanks for the help.

Yeah it looks simple enough, almost too simple. But for example when I was changing the o-ring for the whining noise in cold weather, I dropped the both the old and new o-ring in the engine bay and had to get a ride back to get new ones lol. Just small things like that tend to happen to me where a 5 minute job turned into a 30 minute one.

Haha yeah dropping items in the engine bay is my curse. Though luckily from what I've seen, the assembly comes with the o-rings installed so I shouldn't be dropping anything. *knock on wood*

Once again thanks for the help. Next thing is looking into a power steering pump rebuild as I've developer a very very very minor leak. D:

anything you drop in the engine bay, is usually sitting on the underside covers. You can stick your hand in there or open one panel.

Yeah at the time it was 20 degrees out and I admittedly over reacted to dropping both o-rings so that didn't even cross my mind.

I actually recovered it earlier today when I took my car to see if my power steering was leaking or not. As they were wiping away the excess on the covers you mentioned, the new o-ring that I dropped fell out. I still haven't found the old black one though.

To provide an update, I finally got around to attempting this and of course, something went wrong .

I go to take out the valve, and the little washer thing comes out fine and all that, but I'm like wait a minute this is short. I take a picture, and half the damn thing is still stuck in the opening. I've been trying to get at it with a pick set to try and grip one of those breathing holes and yank it out, but that isn't working either.

Any ideas on what I can do at this point? What should have been a 5 minute thing turned into a nightmare.

To further add on, here's an image using my new PCV Valve Assembly to give an idea of what is stuck and what came out. Red = stuck, green = came out.

at this point you will have to remove the intake manifold and take the valve cover off to remove the broken piece, it happened to me in the RL and the engine bay in the RL is much tighter to work compare to the TL.

I managed to get most of the old one out, and the new one fit in easily. I'm not sure what happened to the rest, maybe it fell in, but I turned my car on and drove it around for a while to be safe and it was smoother than before I changed it.

I assume if it did drop in, it wouldn't last long in there considering how brittle it was.

the chamber that house PCV valve actually does not have open end so you don't have to worry about it fell in, of course i learn that out after the fact I had removed my valve cover

Going at it from the inside, I really couldn't find a possible opening but just assumed there was one. Good to know I just went ahead and shoved the new one in there.

So if someone gets it stuck really bad, and they can't get it from the inside no matter what, what are they supposed to do?
