Exclamation ***HELP*** Motor mount cracked? Replace ASAP?

Sorry I was checking to see if there was a thread already for this, but couldn't find one. I needed some help here, I looked under the hood today and found this... I think this is one of the two motor mounts? [Please correct me if I'm wrong]

I've been having a strange noise from the front passenger side. Like a metal to metal noise when I go over bumps. I was trying to research about that problem and some people said they had the same problem.

I was wondering if I should change this part ASAP? I noticed the plastic was cracked on it. Also should I check if the other one is cracked also?
Thank you so much!

yep, replace it. It's going to continue to make noise when going over bumps. It's most likely that it's completely broken and the top part of the mount is separated.

At this point, check all other mounts as well.

side mount is easy to DIY. Front mount is a little more difficult but doable.

Thank you! How many total motor mounts are there? Is this an expensive fix you think?

fairly easy diy... remove bolt on the pix first.. then 2 on bracket and 2 on the mount, remember to support your motor before loosen mount.

Thanks for your reply, do you have any advice on how to support the motor while doing this DIY?

piece of wood between the oil pan and floor jack should be sufficient.

remember, you aren't lifting the engine. You're merely supporting it. Jack it up till it touches and leave it.

Right on thank you! Will it shift the engine if I just do one at a time or should it be good?

it shouldn't shift much, if any.. passenger mount is prone for damage, you should be good after replacement.

Should I replace the others if they are not cracked? I checked the front one and it wasn't cracked like this one.

well, up to you if you want to replace them all, the rear is a pita..

I would only replace as needed.

I disagree with the replace as needed statement.

If you only replace the front and side, this will put extra stress on the two new ones because they are working harder without a good rear mount, because the old rear mount, which may not looked cracked but could be internally, will be doing less because it is already broken in and has many many more miles on it.

Just spend the extra money and get them all fixed. Right now only my side is cracked from what I can see, but it is not as bad as yours, and I bought three new XLR8 mounts.
Im having all three installed on Friday.

Its about $700 total including $320 for the mounts, and $350 for the labor.

Expensive yes, but I dont want to have problems with these even 100K miles from now.

Preventative maintenance.

that's just a dust cover. if you dont have it that's not a problem, but check rubber underneath.

if you do have a cover and it is cracked like above, it's a good way to determine if it's broken.

I got my passenger side motor mount from AckTL05 it was $60 plus my shipping to Hawaii. Good deal it was a OEM part, when I called the dealer they wanted too much.

I replaced the side motor mount, purchased from Acktl05

The main metal on metal noise went away after the mount was replaced. I still feel some clanking noises here and there and hear a small noise coming from either the drivers side of the engine or the rear maybe? People usually say the front mount breaks before the back... Would this noise maybe be from transmission mounts? I also still get some vibrations when shifting from 3rd into 4th light right before it shifts it shakes the steering wheel and I can feel it in the pedal? Before the side mount was changed I felt it A LOT more then now.

Sorry for all the questions, but figured Id ask around before paying an arm and a leg to take it to get checked at Acura
