Woot! Car is tinted! *some pics*
thanks goes out to tzakiel for his recommendation of the tint place. The place is kinda shady-looking but everyone there is extremely professional and courteous.
I went with Suntek Carbon 45% all around - I decided to stay legal.
Quarter windows completely covered

some people say the typical metallic tint (film with a layer of metal flakes) will interfere with the NAV, AM reception, and radar detector. some said it has no effect whatsoever.
The other 2 alternatives are ceramic (I guess a layer of ceramic flakes) and carbon.
I chose carbon b/c it's non-metallic, warranty against fade, and from what I heard from installers, easier to handle than ceramic's.
The key is to find a shop that carries non-metallic flims that does the quarter windows right. THAT took me a while.

$340 at LA Tint is about the right price...unless you had a previous car that got done there, then you get additional 10% off.
I just got my 06 TL tinted by them. 35% all around. They also did the "whole" quarter windows. Thanks to KennyC and some for mentioning this. I brought it up to them and they did it without a hitch. Look for Bee (manager) or Chris at LA Tint. Starting in Jan 06, they both will be in the Manassas store. I'm very impressed with their workmanship and both are nice guys.
Oh, I got the Formula 1 Pinnacle series (ceramic). So far, the Navi is working just fine without interference.
