Why remove your licence plate in pictures?

Ok, I do it too.. but why? What can someone do if they have your licence plate number? Its not like its your home address that someone is going to stalk you. It's not like you don't drive around the town covering your licence plate to others???

So why when we take pictures do we cross out our plates?

To show off my Photoshop skills!

No real good reason other than "you never know".

Why don't we use our real name as our username here?...

I will wipe off my license #, too.

People buy into all kinds of stereotypes and paranoia. I get a kick out of those who spend the time to rub the number out.

Someone get on publicdata and get the info for California vanity plate "ACURAOFPASADENA" to show why this is a bad idea.

You can find someones address with the license plate numbers. Thieves can be browsing the forums, see a car they like in there area with rims and a bunch of accessories. They dont have to drive around looking for cars they can go straight to your place...

Yeah it takes like 2 seconds to rub it out with Photoshop. Who knows what someone might do with it...there's a lot of a**holes out there and well...why not? Besides, does it really matter if someone wants to do this?

haha I asked the exact same question on a-tsx. Some dude, for gallery pics, actually did the "old-fachioned way" & covered his plates with wet paper towels
I still don't get it. Someone said it right above
"People buy into all kinds of stereotypes and paranoia. "
It all started with just one person I guess.
