Wow, you negotiated 2K off the asking price? Need to take you with me when I buy my next car lol.
Nice pickup, and good job on the maintenance. Just wondering if it's safe to put those transmission additives in the car? Was always told not to use anything other than tranny fluid so I've been on the fence about using additives. Did it really make that much of a difference?

My trans builder basically told me this. "Honda really missed the mark with their trans and fluid combo." Then he went on to say "Several years ago, we had quite a few fresh rebuilds with Honda fluid and new torque converters come back due to shudder issues. Honda fluid is inadequate for their transmissions and additives and flushes are required to extend the lives of the internal wear parts." He told me about the LubeGuard products and said since they have started putting them in all of their Honda rebuilds they have not had one shudder issue or comeback.
Do your own research. I researched for two days before finally buying it. I am not a believer in all the additive stuff. But I am now a believer in LubeGuard products. All the guys on the transmission builder forums swear by it and say it is a MUST for these transmissions.

When would you recommend the shudder eliminator? After a 3x3 or could i throw it in when i do my second 1x3. I will go pick up the last one after my 3rd one and put that in there as ive been reading since that post about it.

The shudder eliminator is a quick fix if you already have the shudder. Every transmissions tolerances will vary to some degree. Some will have the issue, some wont. Mine did due to lack of maintenance and because my fluid was is such bad shape, the additives were all depleted. Even once I do my 5th flush, I'll still have 10% of my old fluid left. I don't care who you are, if you pour 10% of what was in my transmission into clean fluid it will still be dirty. If you don't have the issue, I wouldn't worry about the shudder eliminator, but LubeGuard offers a full line of products to help maintain a healthy trans.

John, you have me confused....if you wanted FM's then why go with the Type F which has no FM's....why not the D4
well either way, am sure its all a learning curve and am glad you got the transmissions problem finally figured out

I only bought 4 quarts of Valvoline type F for Fords not redline. I bought it for the viscosity to help dilute the sludgy mess that was in the trans. I do not have any and will not ever pay for any redline products. This is not a race car and never will be. I only did the first flush with type F. I had no intentions of perminantly running type f. The last three have been with Honda DW1. Since the Honda fluid is lacking the additives to make this trans act right, I got the additives. I did another flush yesterday which took some of the shudder eliminator out and it made a noticble difference in the way te car drives once again. I have one more flush to do one night this week and since it will dilute my additives even more, that is when I will add the other protectant which also eliminates shudders as well a adds other vital temperature reducing additives.

On the interstate I have been keeping it at 68-72. I take a ton of curvy back highways to little towns here and there too so I get in a good bit of 58-65 mph driving. The only thing I hate is that I have to drive like an old man all the time to maintain it. I could drive my celica like I stole it and it still gave me 32mpg. If I drove this car like I drove the celica I'd be getting 15mpg wearing tires out constantly and changing brakes monthly.
It is actually pretty impressive that a car this heavy can get such good economy.

Time for a little update.
First off..
Tint
This arrived yesterday.
Tein S-Techs for the wifes TL, and Tein Basis coils for mine.
Moar Low
Also ditched the wifes reds for some 07-08 base tails.
That 4x4 lol...not for long.

Nice work John!
Your car looks great with the coils. How's the ride? And contrary to what a lot of people say, I love the 07-08 base tails.

The ride is firm but not harsh. I'll get used to it. Both of my compliance bushings are bad. I have them on order. I'll hurry and install them before I get an alignment. It reminds me of a much lighter car now. I like the tails also Tyler. I'll get a set of my own to cut open and modify soon.

Thanks for the prodding to make the coil choice. Love the ride. Just need to get my compliance bushings in so I can try the new fnfnfn (or whatever his inset name is) instal technique and get a damn alignment so I don't die the next time it rains. Lol.
Thanks Anil. The wife's car will definitely look better with moar low.
With all my work travels I'm not sure I can drop it much more, but we will see. 07-08 tails are coming sometime! The slow ass getting here 20mm spacers never showed today, but a nice note in the mailbox did saying we could pick them up cause the wife forgot to chain the dog (we have to do that when we expect deliveries) and our mail lady is scared of him. Dat security system with a heartbeat and teef.
Good choice!

Damn USPS. I got screwed as well with my new lugs as you know. I used to deliever the mail and used to work for Verizon so I had to deal with animals. All I can say is I'm glad I can run fast, lol.
And that bish mail lady should be bringing them out the next day for delivery. None of this YOU can pick them up BS.

Dude, you are a good testament to how when you're a car guy and learn stuff over the years, it's so easy to come in and just pick up and mod like nuts in a short period of time.
You've done like a year's worth of newb mods in about 7 hours.
