I retired a CTR1(SW). Was both Westpac and Atlantic coast. Did mostly shore duty. My ships were the USS Bunker Hill CG-52 and the USS South Carolina GCN-37.
The ship in the background is definately an LHD. Large Helo Docking Amphibious ship. I almost precommed the first one, the USS Wasp. But took orders to the Bunker Hill out of Japan instead.
What is your rate?

BKH! I'm stationed on the Bunker Hill. Small Navy! DC3, headed to Search and Rescue swimmer school on the 14th. Was the BKH your last command? Shes in SD now, although looking like a homeport swap back to Japan soon.

Delta,
Those are AWESOME pictures of the Blue Angels. The Miramar Air Show has always been one of my favorites. By the way, the pictures of the C-5 Galaxy bring back memories. When we had the airshows in Kansas City, I would broadcast for my radio station from inside the C-5. They would open up the nose and the tail of the C-5 and people could walk through the plane while watching my broadcast. They pilot took me up to the flight deck and also had me climb up the tail of the plane. I sat on top of the crosswing-looking out over the airshow (5 stories up!!) and feeling the wing sway in the wind. Exciting but scary!

Why on earth would you want to goto Japan. I had a few buddies that got back from Japan that were on the Kitty. All I heard was horrible things about liberty restrictions while there because of all the violence and trouble that Navy gets into. Anyway good luck with SAR school. I'm an AT3 and considering going Aircrew school, see if I can get into the P-3 community. Now that is where it is at. Never see a ship again, and always stay in small commands.
